Load a checked shortlist into the SourceWhale campaign you already run

Your shortlist inside the SourceWhale campaign you chose, with people SourceWhale already holds skipped, every row on LinkedIn or a checked personal email, and nothing sent. The messages and the start stay with you in SourceWhale.

The prompt

Paste it into Claude Code or the Claude desktop app with Hyreflow connected. The first line tells your agent to use Hyreflow, so it reads the play, asks before it spends anything, and hands the work back to you.

paste this into Claude
Use hyreflow and load my shortlist into a SourceWhale campaign so I can
start the outreach myself.

The shortlist: <FILE_OR_LIST>. The campaign is <CAMPAIGN_NAME>, owned by
<SOURCEWHALE_USER_EMAIL>. I have already written its steps in SourceWhale.

Before you load anyone:
- These are candidates. LinkedIn and personal email only, never a work
email. Drop any address on the person's current employer's domain.
- Tell me how many rows have no personal email. If I say so, find them and
check them. Run five first and tell me what the full run costs before
  you do the rest.
- Look each person up in SourceWhale by email and profile link, and skip
anyone already there. Skip everyone on <DO_NOT_CONTACT_FILE>.
- Show me how my columns map to SourceWhale's candidate fields.

Then add one candidate and show me the request and the response. Wait for
my go-ahead before you add the rest. Stage it, do not send anything: leave
send immediately switched off. I will start the campaign in SourceWhale.

Replace every <PLACEHOLDER> with your own detail. Everything else can stay as written.

What you need first

  • A SourceWhale account connected with your own API key and user email
  • The campaign and its message steps already created inside SourceWhale
  • A shortlist with LinkedIn profile links, and personal emails where you have them
  • A Hyreflow workspace with credits, only if you want missing emails found or checked

Tools it can reach for

The agent picks per step from what your workspace has. Nothing here is required by name.

What happens when you run it

Free steps are marked free. Anything that spends credits is marked, and the agent asks before the first paid run of any size.

  1. 1

Create the campaign in SourceWhale yourself

    free

SourceWhale gives an outside tool no way to create a campaign or write its message steps. You build the campaign and the copy in the app, then tell the agent it exists.

  2. 2

Find the campaign under the right user

    free

The agent lists the campaigns that belong to the SourceWhale user you connected and matches yours by name. A campaign built under a colleague's login does not appear until you say whose it is.

  3. 3

Check the channel on every row

    free

Candidates are approached on LinkedIn and a personal email. Any address on the current employer's domain is removed, and rows with neither a profile link nor a personal address are set aside.

  4. 4

Find and check personal emails, if you ask

    credits

Rows without a personal address walk three providers in a set order and stop at the first hit, and a miss usually costs nothing. Found addresses are deliverability-checked before they go near a sender.

  5. 5

    Skip anyone SourceWhale already holds

    free

Each person is looked up in SourceWhale by email and by profile link before the load. Matches are listed and skipped, so someone a colleague is already working does not get a second approach.

  6. 6

Map your columns and apply your opt-out file

    free

Name, role, company, location, profile link, personal email, a short summary and the source are mapped to the SourceWhale candidate record and shown to you. Opt-outs cannot be read from SourceWhale, so your own do-not-contact file is applied here.

  7. 7

    Load one, then the rest

    free

One candidate is added first and you see the request and the response. The rest follow on your go-ahead, with the send-immediately option off, so the load does not itself start any outreach.

  8. 8

    Hand over the ledger

    free

You get one row per person: loaded, skipped or set aside, with the reason. Once you have started the campaign in SourceWhale, its usage and response figures can be read back, along with your dashboard statistics for the dates you name.

What a run costs

Credits are spent per candidate the play actually works, and a lookup that finds nothing usually costs nothing. The two figures are the run where the first provider answers and the run where every lookup walks its full chain.

candidatesif the first provider answersif every lookup walks the chain
25$3.434 credits$10100 credits
100$14140 credits$41410 credits
500$68680 credits$2032030 credits
1,000$1351350 credits$4054050 credits

Free before anything is charged

  • Create the campaign in SourceWhale yourself
  • Find the campaign under the right user
  • Check the channel on every row
  • Skip anyone SourceWhale already holds
  • Map your columns and apply your opt-out file
  • Load one, then the rest
  • Hand over the ledger

What moves the number

  • The channel. This play buys personal email, because these are candidates, and a work inbox is the wrong place to approach one. A personal address costs more to find than a work one.
  • Coverage on personal email. The chain stops at the first provider that answers, and only that provider bills.
  • How many candidates survive the free filters. Everything dropped before the paid steps costs nothing.
  • Providers you connect with your own key. Those calls bill your account, not your credits.

An estimate, not a quote, priced at the volume credit rate. Your agent sizes the run against your own workspace and tells you what it will cost before it spends anything.

Keep the sequencer, move the list work

Plenty of agencies already run candidate outreach in SourceWhale. The templates are there, the team knows it, and the reporting lives there. Nobody wants a second sequencer because a list was built somewhere else.

So this play does not try to be one. SourceWhale does not let an outside tool create a campaign or write its steps, and that suits the work: the copy is the part a recruiter should own. What an outside tool can do is the dull part before the load, which is where candidate campaigns tend to go wrong. A work email slips in. Someone a colleague messaged last month is approached again. An address bounces and your sending reputation pays for it.

The split is plain. Hyreflow checks the list and loads it. You write the messages and you press start.

What you get back

Your shortlist inside the campaign you named, one candidate record per person: name, role, company, location, profile link, personal email, a short summary and where they were sourced. Beside it, a ledger with a row for everyone who was not loaded and why: already in SourceWhale, on your do-not-contact file, no usable channel, or an address that failed the check.

Nothing has been sent. The campaign is as you left it, with more people in it.

Variations worth knowing

LinkedIn only. Skip the email step. Rows go in with their profile link and the run spends no credits. Check on the first record that your campaign's steps suit a person with no address.

Into a project as well. Candidates can be added to SourceWhale projects in the same call. Name the project and the agent finds it in your project list.

Build the list first. If the shortlist does not exist yet, turn a job spec into a ranked shortlist produces one, and personal emails for passive candidates covers the address step in depth.

Where this goes wrong

The campaign sits under another login. Campaigns are listed per SourceWhale user. If yours does not appear, a colleague created it, and the agent asks whose it is.

Expecting the copy to come with the list. Steps and templates live in SourceWhale. Load into a campaign with no steps and you have a list, not a sequence.

The send-immediately option. It exists, it starts outreach the moment people are added, and it is off here. Switching it on is a separate, explicit request for a named campaign.

Opt-outs the play cannot see. Unsubscribes recorded only inside SourceWhale are invisible to the connection. Export them and hand them over with the shortlist.

Correcting a record after the load. It can be done, but only by the record's SourceWhale id, which means a lookup first. Fix the file before the load.

Questions

Can it write my SourceWhale messages or create the campaign?

No. SourceWhale offers no way to create a campaign or its message steps from outside the app, so both are yours to build there. The connection can list campaigns and projects, add and update candidates, look a candidate up, and read reporting figures. The play is built around that split and does not try to work around it.

Can each candidate get a personalised line?

Not through this play. Nothing documents how a per-person line loaded from outside would appear in a SourceWhale message, so none is promised. What gets loaded is the person's record: name, role, company, profile link, personal email and a short summary. Any merge fields your steps use are set up inside SourceWhale. If a sourced opening line per person matters more than the tool, lemlist takes one as a variable on each lead.

Could adding candidates start the outreach by accident?

The add call has a send-immediately option, and it is the only way the connection can trigger a message. This play leaves it off, and adds one person first so you can see in SourceWhale what a load does to your campaign. The connection has no start or pause call at all, so starting is something you do in the app.

Why can it not see who has opted out in SourceWhale?

The connection does not read replies, unsubscribes or a do-not-contact list from SourceWhale. Bring your opt-out list as a file and it is applied before the load. Whatever suppression you have set up inside SourceWhale is outside what this play can see, so do not count on the load to know about it.

What does it cost?

Listing campaigns, looking people up and loading them run on your own SourceWhale account and use no Hyreflow credits. The only spend is optional: finding missing personal emails and checking deliverability. Five rows run first, and you are told what the full list would cost before anything else is spent.
